The Queen of the Regency Romance, Georgette Heyer wrote this small tale of a flighty miss, a Corinthian gentleman and a shy spinster almost forty years ago. It still gives great pleasure to all “romantics” who read it. Heyer’s work holds up well--especially when read by the fine British actress, Siân Phillips. This narrator has a glorious voice which she changes to suit all characters, male and female, upper, middle and lower classes. Even if the story is too slight for some listeners, the telling will enchant. The production values of Chivers are particularly high, and the cover art is delightfully reminiscent of the plot itself.
