The powerhouse authors and narrators of this aspirational audiobook are determined to help women succeed in the workplace. PepsiCo COO Grace Puma and former Nike President of Consumer Direct Christiana Smith Shi perform as if they were professional narrators. They effectively teach listeners how to create a "career GPS" that will guide them, with occasional course corrections, toward their ultimate career goal. Sadly, the personal vignettes that flesh out the authors' advice lack an emotional component that truly hooks listeners. Their stories about business school, acquisitions and mergers, and team building, for example, make for less-than-engaging listening. Without an emotional component to their writing, the narrators, while skilled, wind up sounding like detached lecturers.
