by A.J. Landau ; Read by Gregory Abbey ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 29, 2025
Gregory Abbey's excellent narration creates a diverse cast of characters who work for the National Park Service's Investigative Services Branch. Agent Michael Walker is investigating the smuggling of artifacts in Alaska. When he uncovers clues linking the crimes to FBI Agent Gina Delgado's investigation of the death of an environmental science intern in Florida, the two find themselves in a race against time to save the earth as we know it. Those involved include a Russian supervillain and a deranged billionaire. Abbey's strong performance ensures that the short factoids that open each chapter never stall the narrative. Abbey's well-considered pacing helps keep listeners engaged as he weaves the diverse threads of the plot, creating a highly enjoyable listen.

by C.J. Box ; Read by David Chandler ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
C.J. Box writes about life in wild Wyoming, short stories of people living a rugged life by choice or by circumstance. David Chandler narrates in a rough-edged whiskey voice that suggests summer heat, bitter winters, and windswept prairies, guiding the listener through 10 adventures of men like Fish and Game Officer Joe Pickett. Chandler brings the listener into this strange world where, more often than not, men have to create their own justice. His performance of the economical stories, some rarely seen, is perfect. The tale of the frozen body of a Native American basketball player turned speed freak, her arm reaching through the ice of a lake in a final jump shot, is one of the most fascinating in the collection.

Narrator Susan Ericksen returns for the latest installment of the long-running In Death series, set in New York in the 2060s. Lt. Eve Dallas and her billionaire husband, Roarke, are called to the scene of a murder. Nathan Barrister is found dead in his study, where there is a hidden vault that houses priceless stolen artwork. Dallas’ investigation is complicated by the fact that the only item missing from the vault is a set of jewels stolen by Roarke decades ago. Ericksen masterfully conveys Eve’s emotions, from her frustration about the investigation to her concern for her husband. And Ericksen’s adept handling of the cast of characters, including Dallas’ partner, Peabody; her commander, Whitney; and the victim’s family demonstrates her skill.
