What will early 21st-century business leaders do to top the escapades of their forebears? Let's hope we don't find out. This exhaustively researched story is at once appalling and fascinating, and narrator Johnny Heller keeps the story moving. His voice is the embodiment of 1980s style: brash, freewheeling, uneven, and compelling. But he reads too fast at times, and it's obvious on the tapes where he had to go back and rerecord. Edward narrates dialogue so naturally that listeners will hear his conviction and picture his thoughtful gaze as he directs Hilland's focus. Hilland becomes a strong believer, and listeners will as well.

Dan John Miller's no-nonsense delivery is fitting for this explosive exposé of U.S. Special Forces units. Harp's audiobook paints a dire picture of power abuses deeply ingrained in the military. Listeners who are familiar with Delta Force or Seal Team 6 are likely to find the reporting here alarming. The title refers to a system of funneling opiates and other drugs onto military bases with little accountability. The violence described is often shocking as military personnel are given a lot of unchecked freedom to use substances, leading to outcomes both tragic and damaging. Harp's unflinching delivery encourages listeners to focus on these concerns, which are clearly in need of large-scale change.
