by Jessie Burton ; illustrated by Olivia Lomenech Gill ; Read by Alisha Bailey ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2021
As Medusa, narrator Alisha Bailey's solemn, powerful delivery grants listeners a new perspective of this mythological figure. Exiled to an island with her sisters after trauma, tragedy, and a newly bestowed curse, Medusa spends her days in isolation--until a surprising visitor arrives on the shore. Bailey captures the tenderness and pain in the budding companionship as Perseus and Medusa talk without seeing each other and Medusa hides her name and face from her new friend. Bailey's portrayals illuminate the fierceness and humanity of Medusa and her sisters, the cruelty of the gods and humans who forced these youths into unbearable circumstances, and the desperation underpinning every choice they must make to survive.

by Linda Davies ; Read by Emily Wilden ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
Listeners follow Merry, the longbow girl, one of the best archers in her town. When she finds a magical portal in the forest that takes her back to sixteenth-century Wales, she must use her skills to win an archery contest in order to help her ancestors keep their land. While narrator Emily Wilden brings protagonist Merry to life with a rich Welsh accent, her narration seems uneven at times. All the period characters have accents that reflect the setting of the story and transport listeners to Wales. Listeners who enjoy historical fiction and a bit of fantasy will be charmed by this tale of determination, hope, and family.
