We urgently need an audiobook equivalent of the term "page-turner" because this is one: a neatly constructed, intelligent entertainment that keeps the reader/listener eager to discover what happens next. Buck Schirner guides us ably through the central character's world-hopping efforts to piece together a complex puzzle of conspiracy and murder. He maintains good tone and pacing throughout, and does a nice job with numerous cameo characters of both sexes and a variety of accents. Through it all, he's personally unobtrusive. At the end, one remembers the story, not the reader. In this reviewer's experience, this is the first Brilliance production that can be classed without reservation alongside the best in audiobooks.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
