At 24, Sara Elliott has a big job on her hands as she tries to raise her siblings, 10-year-old Doug and teenagers Carrie and Abby, after their mother has an incapacitating stroke. She mothers everybody, including her clients, and falls in love with Ruben Lister, an unhappily married man who hires Sara to help him find a house. Suddenly her estranged brother, Mack, just 20 years old, returns home and turns their lives upside down, buying presents he can't afford and twisting his siblings' emotions into knots. Melissa Leo performs admirably in delivering Sara's slowly burgeoning adulthood and her siblings' inexperience. But vulgar language and whiny characters stretch Leo's skills. And, unfortunately, the story line doesn't seem to jell; the action is slow.

Eiden's lively tone gives Jack a subtle flair and confidence that make him easy to forgive and to love.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
