Lidia Dornet narrates a sci-fi romance set in a postapocalyptic America. Two mercenary groups team up to track down missing Library of Congress material, but they face unexpected challenges and treachery. Dornet is at her best when voicing the two leads, Nina and Knox. Despite having similar backgrounds, they approach life very differently: Nina is optimistic almost to the point of naïveté, while Knox is jaded and rapidly becoming bitter. The chemistry between the two is crackling and immediate, and Dornet nails it. Less successful are her portrayals of the remaining five characters, who are not always easily distinguished from one another. Listeners should be aware of several scenes with extended graphic violence.

Brittany Pressley returns to narrate this companion title to Her Knight at the Museum. Inspired by her friend, Emily, Chicago museum employee Rose Novak tries a little magic on a 19th-century painting and ends up summoning Henry Leighton-Lyons, the Duke of Beresford, to her apartment. Rose has a warm voice as she sympathizes with Henry's situation and his grief over the loss of his wife. Henry's upper-crust accent screams pompous aristocrat, even as his fascination with scientific advances often slips into his voice. As Rose and Henry grow closer, Pressley makes their mutual affection clear.

Freddy Carter and Emily Carey continue their compelling performances in the second installment of the City of Fantome series. As Sera explores her new powers amid the Order of Flames, Ransom struggles with leading the Order of Daggers. While both are trying to protect their kingdom, they are drawn back to the city of Fantome when the king orders them to settle their rivalry and work together. Carter's and Carey's performances are delivered with such appeal that listeners will find it easy to buy into the plot and worldbuilding. Both narrators have dreamy tones, which are perfect for this romantasy series. Carter and Carey's portrayals of the leads in this enemies-to-lovers romance will keep listeners hooked.
