Narrator Joy Osmanski portrays the fictional social media darling Sunshine Mackenzie, a lifestyle guru who specializes in cooking. Osmanski captures Sunny's shock and anger when she finds her online world collapsing due to a nasty hack on her thirty-fifth birthday. Osmanski's snarky voice suggests a not-very-attractive Sunny who is focused on whom to blame and on getting her virtual life back. When she returns to her hometown of Montauk, Long Island, where her estranged sister lives, Sunny slowly finds her way back to an authentic life. With careful pacing, Osmanski credibly shifts her delivery as Sunny moves from self-pity to self-awareness and self-acceptance. Osmanski makes this send-up of social media celebrity totally believable.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
