ANGELS CREST

Some listeners may be unable to appreciate this forcefully written novel about loss, innocence, and guilt. It's the story of a mountain town that faces the tragic death of a 3-year-old whose father left him in the car in winter while he tracked a deer. Little Nate got out of the car to find his father and died in the snow. The story focuses on five of the searchers who look for the boy; their innermost fears, unforgiven sins, and general inadequacies are examined in depth. Susan Denaker, who has a distinguished stage career playing suffering women, is the perfect reader for this novel. If one finds sorrow and misery morally uplifting or psychically healing, then listening to Susan Denaker's agonized storytelling will be one's cup of tea.

      18mm BLUES

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
