Who’s killing the Blue Bloods? Christina Moore's mature voice may not be the best match for this sequel about teen socialite vampires, but her experience aids in cultivating suspense and casting suspicion on a wide cast of characters. The overall tone of Moore's narration is one of anxiety: Schuyler is desperately searching for clues to the killings, Mimi is worrying she'll lose her boyfriend's attention while she's distracted by planning the masquerade ball, and Bliss is questioning her sanity after experiencing horrific hallucinations. Moore maintains the gossipy style of the book—which has as much emphasis on fashion and social standing as on character development. Author and narrator keep listeners guessing at what will happen next in the series.

This dark science-fiction story about three teens who participate in a doomed space mission is commendably narrated by Casey Holloway. Varied accents for the three teens—who are from France, Japan, and Norway—and strong pacing showcase Holloway’s talent as a narrator. As panic sets in among the astronauts and the teens find their adult companions to be unreliable, Holloway easily delivers the rising tension, and her quiet intensity draws listeners toward the story’s chilling conclusion. Harstad’s story will leave listeners contemplating the fate of humanity in the vast reaches of space.
