by Melody Warnick ; read by Carrington MacDuffie ‧ RELEASE DATE: June 21, 2016
Narrator Carrington MacDuffie elevates this production to a fun and motivating listen. Melody Warnick decides she is going to fall in love with her new town, Blacksburg, Virginia, after a transient lifestyle. She conducts experiments to make herself feel more connected, but the strategies all feel a bit obvious: shop locally, join a community supported agriculture group, practice random acts of kindness, volunteer, donate, hike, invite the neighbors for a potluck. With enthusiasm, authenticity, and sheer likability, MacDuffie brings to life the delight of handing out muffins on Good Neighbor Day and wearing cat ears in the town parade, as well as sensitively expressing the impact of the 2007 mass shooting at Virginia Tech on residents of Blacksburg (which occurred before Warnick moved there). You'll finish listening and then start thinking about what you can do for your community.

This memoir, environmental manifesto, and recounting of adventures in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest is a compelling listen. Rosolie tells the story of the Junglekeepers organization, dedicated to protecting the rainforest, with a heart-stopping pace. Rosolie and his team capture some of the world’s largest anacondas, climb to the top of the jungle canopy, fight for the survival of rare macaws, and meet the Indigenous Mashco Piro tribe. The Junglekeepers bring travelers to this most remote part of the planet where they have built the “world’s tallest treehouse.” Sadly, after overcoming threats of logging and mining and saving more than 100,000 acres of wilderness, the organization now faces drug dealers who want to use the land for their own purposes.

by Hwang Bo-reum ; translated by Shanna Tan ; read by Rosa Escoda ‧ RELEASE DATE: Dec. 2, 2025
Rosa Escoda offers a warm, inviting narration of advice on living a well-read life. Hwang, author of the novel WELCOME TO THE HYUNAM-DONG BOOKSHOP, reflects on her relationship to books and suggests ways to fit more reading into our lives, as well as ways to read more broadly and more deeply. It's all done with a light and personal touch--Hwang talks about why a book club might be a good fit (or not), and about how she tackled the problem when she found her bookshelves starting to overflow. Shanna Tan's translation from the Korean sounds smooth and natural, and Escoda, with a lovely British accent, pronounces Korean words fluently. This is an audiobook for booklovers, and it'll make you eager to find your next read, or listen. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine
