The latest in Connelly's Harry Bosch/Renée Ballard series is a gift to fans with its engrossing plot and intriguing characters delivered by exceptional narrators. Titus Welliver, portraying Bosch, and Christine Lakin, voicing Ballard, each take the lead in alternating chapters, coming together in the characters' dialogue. Together, they create a genuine world for listeners to slip into. Peter Giles, the voice of Connelly's Lincoln Lawyer series, provides a brief portrayal of defense attorney Mickey Haller in conversation with Ballard. Bosch is drawn out of retirement by Ballard, who now heads the newly re-formed Cold Case unit. Through pace, tone, and accent, the narrators differentiate the heroes and the villains and keep the plot moving. What will fans do when Bosch retires from detecting for good?

by Elizabeth George ; Read by Simon Vance ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 23, 2025
With his rich baritone and impeccable pacing, Simon Vance gives voice to the return of Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley and his partner, Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers. Characters from Cornwall to South Africa benefit from Vance's facility with accents as he delineates the many personalities and their disparate backstories, only some of which relate directly to a horrific murder. Michael Lobb, who was brutally stabbed in his workshop, is discovered by the man who is trying to buy his property for lithium mining. Lynley and Havers, who are both dealing with their own issues, don't appear until well into the investigation. There's plenty going on here: sexual abuse, infidelity, a custody battle, and more. Vance's consummate performance pulls it all together into a cohesive narrative.

by Lina Chern ; Read by Kristen Sieh ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2025
Narrator Kristen Sieh is exceptional in this entertaining audiobook. The second in the Play the Fool series, it's equally enjoyable as a stand-alone story. Katie True is a tarot card reader who uses intuition and observation to solve murders on the side. She's also nursing some worry that she's behind in life as she approaches age 30. As Katie, Sieh's voice is relatable and conversational--like a stream-of-consciousness voicemail from your best friend. For the rest of the colorful characters who populate Katie's Chicago suburb, Sieh delivers a range of voices that are aurally distinct without being distracting. Listeners can focus on Katie's latest mystery and her heart-before-head approach to life.
