If you enjoyed the M.A.S.H. movie or television show, this audiobook is for you. Narrator Scott Brick brings to life the stories of a group of army doctors trying to cope with life during the Korean War. Their solution is to embrace the chaos. The stories might sound familiar, as much of the work was used in the adaptations. The characters are not as friendly in this version but they’re still the good guys, albeit less tolerant of incompetence. The whole crew is here, including Hawkeye Pierce, Trapper John, Hot Lips Houlihan, and the rest. Radar O'Reilly in particular gets to shine.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
