Narrator Soneela Nankani brings a ton of sparkle to this sweet story of friendship, ambition, insecurity, and falling for the wrong twin. In earnestly read diary entries addressed to female movie directors, we learn of high schooler Twinkle Mehra's desire to become a director herself and to finally be noticed by her classmates and the swim star Neil Roy. We also learn of Sahil, Neil's charming twin, who offers to produce her film. Nankani's youthful voice brightens Twinkle's emotional roller coaster of a story and provides distinct voices for each of the characters, including Twinkle's family and friends. Vikas Adam's deeper voice provides occasional insights into Sahil, who we learn through text messages with his supportive friends and through blog entries has had a crush on Twinkle for ages.

Listeners follow Merry, the longbow girl, one of the best archers in her town. When she finds a magical portal in the forest that takes her back to sixteenth-century Wales, she must use her skills to win an archery contest in order to help her ancestors keep their land. While narrator Emily Wilden brings protagonist Merry to life with a rich Welsh accent, her narration seems uneven at times. All the period characters have accents that reflect the setting of the story and transport listeners to Wales. Listeners who enjoy historical fiction and a bit of fantasy will be charmed by this tale of determination, hope, and family.
