Mischa is barely 6 when WWII ends. His German father is dead. The boy and his mother are treated miserably as enemies of their native France, but not until her death many years later does the cloth of his life unravel. It’s not just the intricacies of the story that are intriguing, but the wonder with which narrator Glen McCready embraces this work. The concentrated thought he puts into his phrasing imprints each scene in the mind, adding unforgettable colors. He works words around to be descriptions by themselves and then molds them, with just the right amount of emphasis, into the characters the author must have seen in his own mind. McCready puts a fine polish on this production.

      18mm BLUES

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
