by Stacey Abrams , Lara Hodgson & Heather Cabot ; Read by Lara Hodgson , Heather Cabot & Stacey Abrams [Prologue] ‧ RELEASE DATE: Feb. 22, 2022
Before she ran for political office, Stacey Abrams co-founded the baby drink business featured in this excellent small-business guide. After Abrams reads the prologue, her business partner, Lara Hodgson, and journalist Heather Cabot share reading the chapters. Their pacing will sound slow and their tone naïve to some ears. But as the story of the company unfolds, they create a bond with listeners that gives their advice credibility. This guide takes us inside the minds and hearts of two courageous entrepreneurs as they learn to work with their growing team to tackle a plethora of challenges. Notable for the narrators' audible candor and quiet determination, this is a generous serving of down-to-earth advice for any start-up business.

by Mary C. Murphy ; Read by Mary C. Murphy & Carol Dweck [Fore.] ‧ RELEASE DATE: March 12, 2024
Carol Dweck, author of MINDSET, narrates the Foreword of this audiobook in a workmanlike fashion, explaining her scholarly relationship with author Mary Murphy. Murphy argues that the creative and talented mindset transcends the innate gifts of an individual. Cultures of growth are explained as both revolutionary and helpful at Microsoft and many other well-known organizations. An extended discussion of nature versus nurture follows. Sadly, Murphy's narration leaves much to be desired. It lacks gravitas in its nasal timbre and almost childlike pitch, and occasional odd phrasing and pauses mid- sentence may further alienate the listener. A professional narrator may have made this discussion more approachable.

by Dan McClure & Jennifer Wilde ; Read by Corrine Davies ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2024
The authors of this business guide offer their initial ideas about innovation in abstract terms that take time coming down to earth. The broad message is that circumstances--the ecosystem we're dealing with--can confine our thinking to the landscape and constraints we're accustomed to and habits of mind that make it hard to see opportunities for acting creatively. Narrator Corinne Davies's vocal character is pleasing to hear and faithful to the meaning conveyed in each sentence, if not always to the presentation's broader themes. But when the authors start telling stories about clients who broke free of conventional practices, the dramatic flair of Davies's delivery sounds more complementary to the material.
