Despite the passage of six decades, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy is still fodder for speculation and, as this audiobook proves, fictionalization. Narrated with deft enthusiasm by Scott Brick, this thriller keeps listeners engaged from start to finish. Highlighting the theory that the President's death was caused by a ninth man whose presence at the scene was never confirmed, the story is engaging, particularly the second half. Brick's ability to define intelligence agent Luke Daniels, combined with his portrayal of Washington political insider Thomas Rowland, transforms a good audiobook into a memorable one. While the conclusion will cause many heads to shake, the story remains a classic taste of the work of author Steve Berry and collaborator Grant Blackwood.

Part of the joy of Tom Clancy novels is one's belief that the stories could come true. His latest entry stretches that some as we find international terrorists building a nuclear bomb which is used to set Americans and Russians against one another. Jay Robertson reads with a newscaster's voice, crisp and clear with a light touch of drama. However, he does little to help listeners identify Clancy's huge cast of characters, and dialects seem difficult for him as he occasionally slips in and out of character. Nonetheless, patient listeners are rewarded as the plot unfolds. This will be a welcome addition to any library justifying the price of the multi-cassettte volumes.

C.J. Box writes about life in wild Wyoming, short stories of people living a rugged life by choice or by circumstance. David Chandler narrates in a rough-edged whiskey voice that suggests summer heat, bitter winters, and windswept prairies, guiding the listener through 10 adventures of men like Fish and Game Officer Joe Pickett. Chandler brings the listener into this strange world where, more often than not, men have to create their own justice. His performance of the economical stories, some rarely seen, is perfect. The tale of the frozen body of a Native American basketball player turned speed freak, her arm reaching through the ice of a lake in a final jump shot, is one of the most fascinating in the collection.
