Susan Runholt's first novel involves a realistic friendship between teens who share an interest in art. Kari and Lucas have been best friends since they met in art class when they were 10. Now, they're 14 and about to get involved in exposing an art scam. Kari is a creative, imaginative teen, and Krista Sutton tells her story with emotion and enthusiasm. She has a laugh in her voice when Kari drops lines like "I was born at a very early age." The friendship between the girls is realistic, but the story strains credibility when the girls decide to expose an art forger who passes off his own painting as a newly discovered Rembrandt.
