Jessica's life seems perfect: She has a job she loves at the MIAMI HERALD; a beautiful daughter; and David, the sophisticated, accomplished man who is her soul mate and husband. For David, it is perfect too; thus, since he is actually an immortal, part of an Ethiopian brotherhood, he will risk everything so that he will not lose his family--as he has lost his families so often before. This gripping, complex story is compellingly original, and the listener can't help but suspend disbelief. Peter Francis James's rich and sensuous voice, his ability to capture all the emotional nuances, his facility with the French conversations that David has with his daughter, and the personalities he crafts all enhance the story. He maintains the suspense and terror that builds as Jessica flees David with her daughter, and throughout the long narration his performance is always just what the prose requires. The interview with the author at the end piques the listener's interest in the sequel. Unforgettable.

A year has passed since Simi Chopra, her assorted crew, and Jack Danger pulled off a lucrative diamond heist. Now, the Chicago Mafia boss is demanding that the jewels be returned, so Simi gets the team back together. Nankani delivers an expressive performance that emphasizes Simi's conflict between her passion for Jack and the mission. Her distinct character voices keep the listener fully immersed. 18mm BLUES

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
