Kevin was an Army brat born in Germany of U.S. Military Parents. He reportedly spoke German before he spoke English. His father was a communications engineer who worked for NASA after serving his country as a combat photographer, a career choice that led to him being shot, hand grenaded and the loss of an arm from a land mine. Kevin’s mother worked out of the pentagon in military intelligence. This unlikely duo raised three boys with a stated life goal of keeping them out of trouble by keeping them out of the public school system. Their life was unusual to say the least.
Kevin’s fondest childhood memories are of growing up in the deserts of west Texas where he built and flew remote control airplanes and became a fairly accomplished factory sponsored motocross racer. The racing eventually paid off and funded some of his college exploits. He studied pre-med and after a few life course corrections received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from a state university. As a Registered Nurse his first real job thrust him into a management position on a large Psychiatric Unit where he also garnered significant experience dealing with traumatic injuries. He then embarked upon a major career change by dedicating twenty years of his life to a major metropolitan police department. He graduated as his class valedictorian and spent the majority of his time there as either an academy instructor or assigned to intelligence undercover operations. After retiring, Kevin served as the Assistant Director of the Criminal Justice Training Authority in New Mexico. From there he moved into a contractor position with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Office of Antiterrorism Assistance, Department of State where he wrote, developed, and managed multimillion dollar courses on Emergency Medical Interventions for Mass Casualty Situations and Hospital Management for Mass Casualty Incidents that were taught in translated environments to medical professionals from friendly foreign governments. From there he moved on to another contractor position with the Department of Energy at the National Training Center where he worked in Professional Development. He then moved to East Texas where he served as a Program Director for Special Investigators in a State Agency. Kevin was the President of KP Pro Incorporated, a fishing lure manufacturer where they designed and built fishing lures under his patents that covered rattling, glowing scent dispensing fishing lures. His two great life distractions have been designing, building, and piloting weight shift ultralight aircraft and maintaining a small herd of longhorns on his farm.
Kevin’s first stab at novel length writing included books that he co-authored with Alvino Hernandez, ‘SENSOR’, originally copyrighted in 1983 followed shortly thereafter by ‘Project Spymaker’, co-authored with Bryce Forrester and originally copyrighted in 1985. Both manuscripts sat dormant while their authors pursued their professional careers and were later updated and published (in this decade). These novels were chosen as a starting point because both were part of a multi-novel series. The ‘SENSOR’ series has recently added SENSOR ‘The Turning’ a solo work by Kevin Pierce and will soon be followed by SENSOR ‘Plains of DenHolden’ by Alvino Hernandez. Project Spymaker will soon be followed by Project Spymaker ‘Origins’ by Kevin Pierce and Bryce Forrester.
Kevin is sitting on a few dozen manuscripts that he hopes to bring to press while he still breathes.
“An often-engaging series installment with a smartly detailed plot.”

Combat-ready New East Texans valiantly defend their planet from vicious, dimension-hopping creatures in Pierce’s SF sequel.
Earth has been under threat ever since WARPs (Winged Appendaged Rapacious Predators) began attacking. Some of these apex predators, having breached the veil between “coexisting dimensions,” are invisible, and only human “sensors” have the natural ability to detect them immediately. Humans have rallied together, forming “battle packs” of trained individuals who’ve vowed to protect innocent civilians. In Texas, Cherokee County has inexplicably suffered an unusually high number of WARP assaults. The locals’ defense, heavily shielded, armed tractors, is the newest strategy for fighting the otherworldly creatures. Cherokee’s “Saber,” or battle-pack leader, assigns farmer Hans Berger the task of overseeing design of “battle tractors” and training drivers. In the meantime, WARP strikes show no sign of slowing down, and analysts such as Zoe Marie Best continually study the enigmatic monsters to better understand them; perhaps humans can devise a weapon to take out the WARPs for good. Pierce’s follow-up to Sensor (co-written by Alvino Hernandez, 2020) deftly reintroduces the series’ dystopian world. Although it’s likely a global invasion is underway, this streamlined plot centers on the people of Cherokee and a few surrounding areas. There’s a hearty batch of heroes, most notably Hans and his wife, Anakai (the namesake of his revered battle tractor), brothers Jude and Luke McLendon, and the brilliant Zoe. They fuel a story that builds to a significant battle, teased in the prologue. However, much of the narrative consists of characters discussing combat tactics, including at a lengthy “Summit” that takes up roughly 40 pages. Still, there are intermittent burst of action, and nice touches along the way, from the packs’ “battle jackets,” complete with patches awarded for kills, to the Governor’s Mansion, an abandoned high school turned into housing. A terrific open ending allows for further sequels.
An often-engaging series installment with a smartly detailed plot.
