Sorry we're late in reporting this as there's a pre-publication price of (publication date is close upon us-October 6)...It's a book for the long haul rather than the quick sale, and - in the midst of the flood of anthologies, here is one that different, that meets a real need of today. Everywhere is evidence- small perhaps there- of a search for elemental values. Here is an anthology in which two main tives are sustained:- every inclusion must have some religious significance (not sarily a positive affirmation); every inclusion must have literary merit. But it is the first objective that the sale of the book will rest. The 300 items fall into categories:- short stories (sometimes extracted from a longer work); poetry, dram, affirmations. The poetry I found the most interesting section, with content ranging from doubt and denial, to social justice, faith, lessons of the war, humor, hope - recurrently religion as a guide and strength. Interesting as a whole in that the is --with a few exceptions- of 20th century origin, and the religion is in the Hebrew-Christian tradition, with no creedal standard (though there is a rather surprising paucity of Catholic material). A book not to be pushed aside as ""just anthology"".
