The days when every household gave an honored place to the Family Bible and recorded births, deaths, marriages therein, seemed to have passed. But the revival of acceptance of family worship as an integral part of life has brought back a demand for the Family Bible. This is an answer to that demand, in a new edition of the King James Version, produced through international cooperation of designers, publishers, photographers and manufacturers. Typographically, it is the most readable Bible I have examined. The illustrations, including 48 color plates, reproductions of world famous paintings, have been chosen to present famous stories from the Old Testament and the characters and incidents of the Gospel story. At the back of the volume there is a commentary on the plates, identifying them and locating their sources. An index and Concordance provide the necessary reference tools. The front section follows the traditional Family Register, printed in color. Sturdily bound for practical use, this could be used not only as a Family Bible, but as a pulpit or Sunday School Bible. It is an impressive piece of publishing.
