Whole cultures have grown up with these religions as a focus. In this series each is studied in relation to history, meaning, traditions and contemporary significance. The most important writings that provide a significant body of work have been selected with each editor's interpretations and introductions. In this way each religion is presented through its own testimony. We have not seen the texts so can make no comment other than by way of announcing what seems to us a useful and important series.
