FOUR DAYS' WONDER

Don't let this get in with the mysteries, in spite of the tie up with Milne's thriller of a number of years back, THE RED HOUSE MYSTERY. For this novel is spoofing mysteries, holding up to ridicule the paraphernalia by showing how quickly a web of damning evidence can be constructed out of virtually blameless actions. Whimsical -- of course, that is inevitable. Annoying, through its indirection -- it's that too. But it is amusing, and certainly original, and there is an appealing romance interwoven with the nonsense. Better have a member of the staff read and place it for your clientele.
