by A. S. F. Gow ‧ RELEASE DATE: N/A
The poet figures more as a scholar than as the author of A Shropshire Lad and very little light is thrown on his creative side. The result is a disappointment to all who love his poetry. The balance of the picture is painstakingly done. His academic career is traced, his scholarship searched and applauded. One feels that Housman the man and the poet still remains for another biographer to present. This is a one dimensional figure, limited in scope and appeal.
