GENTLY BY THE SHORE

C. I. Gently, of the Central Office of the C.I.D., gets a slippery orphan of a case when he is sent to Starmouth to investigate a body, found on the beach, that no one can identify. Stabbed and tortured, the corpse begins to lose its anonymity when an idiot beachcomber, evidence of a false beard, and a lively lady give Gently a starting point which leads him to some peepholes in the Iron Curtain. The ""forensic intuition"" here.
