FICTION GOES TO COURT

18 gentlemen of the bar pick their favorite legal stories which take in murder as well as a real estate closing, a lawsuit over a dog bite and the law west of the Pecos, and sundry other matters. Mr. Tutt is here and so is Judge Priest; Perry Mason's trigger tactics are equalled by the Negro Lawyer Chew; The Devil and Daniel Webster is in contrast to Judge Roy Bean, to note a few of the long term die-hards. John W. Davis, Richard M. Nixon, Adlai E. Stevenson, Fred M. Vinson, Roscoe Pound, Tom C. Clark, Eric Johnston, Estes Kefauver, Sam Rayburn, Lloyd Paul Stryker are among the talent-pickers and some of those they have tapped are Galsworthy, A. P. Herbert, A. A. Milne, William Faulkner, Irwin Shaw, Richard Harding Davis, Marc Connelly, Cornelia Otis Skinner. A specifically angled collection, this tries its cases entertainingly.
