STOLEN SWEETS

How nice to meet a personable, forthcoming, real honest-to-God crook -- reformed but unrepentant and now making his living writing films. Early on between capers or scores he knew a good many people in media mentioned here from Cocteau to Chaplin. Albie stole a bicycle at thirteen and then went into business at fifteen, quitting school. By the time he was seventeen he was a professional thief with his own modus operandi -- mostly jewelry and always performing in the daytime hours from Miami to New York to the Coast. He went into Sing Sing carrying a Gucci bag; he pulled off a big rip-off with a casual three-pound roast as envoi to the house guard-dog; he was always more or less wanted for unsolved cases until now he's presumably settled down with the last of a number of attractive girls. Baker's been called an International Raffles and he's got just that kind of style -- watch out for him -- he's entertaining and exciting enough to easily score again.
