Many people have heard of Huxley's recovery of vision. This is the story of his visual re-education, the therapeutic treatment by which he progressed from semi-blindness to good vision without glasses. There is nothing personal in this account; it is scientific exposition of Dr. Bates' technique, and an expansion of his theory that eyes, like other parts of the body, can become normal again,if subjected to certain drills, exercises, types of relaxation, increased mobility. Huxley shows how his treatment is particularly effective in dealing with myopia, astigmatism, long sight, etc. Impersonal, simple, scientific presentation of a new development, which is still frowned upon by the fellow specialists.
