IF YOU BELIEVE THE SOLDIERS

Cordell hypothesizes a fascist takeover of Britain in the not-so-distant future, an exercise less remarkable for originality than for the proliferation of unpleasant detail. Mark Seaton, a high level bureaucrat challenges corruption in the system and finds himself a Star Chamber defendant for his trouble. His wealth and position can't protect him from torture and imprisonment -- but at least the women in his life -- including his fourteen year old Chinese ward, give him something else to think about during his tribulations. Comes the counterrevolution, and the proletariat proves as monstrous as the neoNazi regime it overthrew. More ponderous than profound.
