THE LIFE OF NELSON

The increasing importance of The Influence of Sea Power upon History has created interest in the reissue of this biography of Nelson, published in two volumes, 46 years ago, in one volume 44 years ago. Both editions are out of print since 1928. In Puleston's biography of Mahan, he endorses the Nelson enthusiastically (while decrying Mahan's Farragut, incidentally). Mahan wrote the biography while on his last sea duty, commanding the Chicago, and covered many places that figured in Nelson's life, contacting people who could give him new material. In spite of the numerous biographies of Nelson published since that time, this still deserves an important place.
