What this dinosaur book has that others don't is what might be called human interest -- also a sense of humor. My Visit... is that of a little boy, his father and littler sister to see the skeletons in the museum (of Natural History, N.Y., but it hardly matters), which occasions some explanation -- beginning with the Brontosaurus -- of how a skeleton is put together, of how fossils were found and of what paleontologists (explained) learned from them. Then, beginning again with the benign Brontasaurus, we have a descriptive gallery of dinosaurs (with a break for the family to enter the next hall) that get fiercer and fiercer-looking until: ""My father said that Triceratops could defend itself even against TYRANNOSAURUS REX. I wondered who Tyrannosaurus Rex was."" And of course, overleaf, there he is, as he was once, overleaf again, as he is in skeletal grandeur. ""I was glad Tyrannosaurus Rex wasn't alive any more. When you go to the museum, you will see what I mean."" How can you wait?
