THE DANCERS' BODY BOOK

A featherweight, feather-brained collection of tips on eating correctly from one of the occupational groups least likely to offer sound nutritional advice: professional dancers. Makarova at 5'3"" weighs 94 lbs., Susan Jaffe at 5'5"" weighs 102 lbs.--so even Kent has to admit that ""an average American female should not aim for the very low weight of the average ballerina."" Then why even bother to present these ill-informed opinions from the super-skinny? (Peter Fonseca eats ""a minimal breakfast. . . then I don't eat anything all day."") Kent does offer an unremarkable 7-day ""maintenance"" diet of 1200 calories a day--and then some totally unrelated recipes: Martine Van Hamel's ""Putting the Rice to Bed"" (plain boiled rice), Mel Tomlinson's ""Pineapple Dump Cake"" (made with a box of cake mix, a stick of butter, and a can of fruit). Silly to begin with--and useless, even harmful in these days of eating disorders.
