THE TATTOOED SAILOR

A book of cartoons, introduced by M. Walt Kelly, of Pogo fame, is happily transplanted from France and retains an essence of Gallic humor. There's a simple scratch technique- which takes a bit of Thurber, a bit of Steinberg -- for a variety of concerns; men in armor, ladies with enormous bosoms in odd situations, men with any number of tattoos amazingly applied, artists with models, undraped and droopy, a bit of amour and toujours the comic spirit as it touches everyday (and not so every day) life. A specialite which is even better for laughs on a second look.
