by Angela Johnson ‧ RELEASE DATE: March 1, 1990
In a less complex story than Johnson's Tell Me a Story, Mama: (1989), a small black girl goes through a snowy winter day admiring and imitating her older sister. In his first picture book, Ransome conveys how the affection between the two girls helps the younger learn from the older; though his forms are almost so sturdy as to be stolid, they are attractively warm and bright and serve the text well.
