Reference value for school and public libraries, but not a book likely to have much general appeal for bookshops. Brief biographies, with stress on military exploits, of the great generals and admirals of history, from Alexander and Hannibal and Caesar through Frederick the Great, George Washington, Napoleon, Desatur, Dewey, etc., down to the last war and a final chapter on this war. It is surprising how many of the great military leaders reached their peek is comparative youth. The biographical sketches are brief -- averaging two pages of text.
