RED SAILS TO CAPHI

The discovery of Capri's Blue Grotto stars in a high spirited novel of a boy, fisherman and three foreigners who visited the island in 1862. A French writer, Jaques ersonnier, an English painter, Lord Derby, and a Norwegian philosopher, Erik Nordstrom, and on Capri during the off season- in search respectively of excitement, beauty and ""truth"" and stay at the inn of young Michele Pagano's father. They are champing at the it for adventure. It soon begins when Michele taken Jaques for a sail and refuses to talk about a mysterious cove, the waters of which they must skirt. Even Signor Pagano, himself a mere fledgling Capri resident of but fifteen years standing, is reluctant to discuss matters, the mere mention of which would frighten townspeople and undermine his till shaky social position. Foreign ingenuity and desire for knowledge win out and with he help of Michele and old fisherman Angelo, the wonderful grotto is explored. A very appy dialogue at an almost fever pitch of excitement pulls the reader right along, makes him gasp with awe at the first glimpse of the flickering blue lights.
