THE THREE BEARS and 15 Other Stories

Though these sixteen durable traditional favorites (among them ""The Lion and the Mouse,"" ""The Gingerbread Man,"" ""Little Red Riding Hood,"" and one rhyme, ""The House That Jack Built"") are widely available, often singly in picture book form with more enlarging illustrations, there is something captivating about these trim, squarish pages and their naive watercolor pictures in which all the animal and human characters seem to be acting in a pantomime some place where both the stage and the audience axe comfortably small. This is better suited to individual ownership than to group readalouds, but as few families will go for the $10.00 tag, we'd stock it--in quantity--on library shelves, for successive sharings.
