by Anne Rockwell ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 29, 1982
Some unthinking, unimaginative, totally bland words about boats--accompanied by sunny, conventionalized, unrealistic watercolors of bears in boats. ""Boats float."" (The picture shows a motorboat in motion.) ""They float on quiet ponds."" (This bear is fishing. An anchor at first appears to be thrown to shore--but actually rests, confusingly, on the pond-bottom . . . near the ducks!! If the boat has oars, they must be stowed in the bottom.) Boats also ""float""--i.e., variously move along--on ""busy rivers,/and the wide, blue sea."" And, furthermore: ""Some boats go slow./Some boats go fast."" Insipid and inept.
