A good successor for the Nijinsky book market is this ""story of an obsession"". The art of the ballet -- the personalities -- the raison d'etre -- the contributing factors. Not an historical treatise, though there is the history of the ballet by implication, but an alive presentation of a medium which is coming into prominence again. The author's ""obsession"" is a very vital thing to him and his comments, descriptions, sketches, and personality data have an authentic flavor. Again Diaghff and Nijinsky Fokine, Massine, Sokolova, Lopokova, Pavlova; the newcomers; the ballet in America. Lively reading for those interested in the subject.
