A GIFT FROM THE BOYS

The low jinks which attend the deportation of Frank Hartlett, mobster with a notorious record, to his birthplace, Sicily, include a gift from the boys in the well-stacked shape of Karen Withers, a blonde from the road company of My Fair Lady and a reluctant substitute for her friend. Also joining them is Pete Angelico, a reporter from a New York paper, covering the native's return-- to a hero's welcome but many misadventures. Their trunks are stolen; their accommodations wretched- until they are taken in- for a princely sum- by the Principessa del Grandi; they are shaken down- by the Mafia- and Bartlett is kidnapped; and finally, launching a traffic in cigarettes which lands the whole village in trouble, they arrange a second kidnapping- Karen's- for a ransom in U.S. federal funds which makes their stay in Sicily a permanent one.... (Fr)antically funny- or is it really?
