Arthur Ellen was ""the most famous hypnotist-entertainer in the world"" and still practices that sometimes suspect if increasingly accredited (even the A.M.A.) ""neglected but proven science."" Whereas the intimate in the title is a gratuitous come-on, most of the book is a straight-forward account of his successes and limitations (psychotics are not hypnotizable; giving up smoking works but not always). Mostly this strings together true cases from the sports world (Sal Maglie, Maury Wills), show biz (Tony Curtis, Vic Damone, etc.) and some of the latter were helpful in testifying for him when he faced trial in 1967 for practicing medicine without a license. Seemingly this does not overreach so that you can safely OPEN YOUR EYES. . . OPEN YOUR EYES. . . OPEN YOUR EYES.
