This is what used to be called a penny dreadful and now has probably been inflated to the shilling shocker and it centers around WWII DSO Dick Blamey, who'e been a failure ever since, working in pubs, playing the horses. But getting along until his ex-wife is ""abominably"" assaulted and murdered, and next the girl he's spent a night with, and he is convicted even if detective Oxford is not altogether convinced... The trial itself, with some touchy technicalities, is interesting and it's all right of its kind--racy, randy.
