by Ashley & Edward Darling Montagu ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 27, 1967
More myth-defying feats from the pen of Montagu in association with Mr. Darling. And this one takes on the whole kit and kaboodle: ""some of the most outrageous nonsense of our day."" In case we didn't realize it computers can make mistakes, man does not become more neurotic as society becomes more complex, white eggs are not superior to brown eggs, ditto white vs. black man, there are inconsistencies in laws, etc. Further, man has to lie...sometimes, the Encyclopaedia Britannica is not the most complete summary of human knowledge in existence, ""All cereals are almost entirely lacking in body building materials and vitamins,"" and Galileo did not invent the telescope nor did Washington chop down the cherry tree. This is just part of the miscellany exposed here and the authors have fortified themselves with a stably documented defense in the form of extended notes. An informative time-passer for those who want verification of doubts about, say, whether their dog is really psychic.
