A TREASURY OF NEW ENGLAND FOLKLORE

Similar in pattern to the well-received A Treasury of American Folkore, this accumulation of regional material again offers a wealth of documented, ably assembled stories, rhymes, songs, proverbs, etc. There is no competition with the Mussy book, for this follows no chronological order, has no historical intent. The entries come from legend and tradition, from Barnum and Coolidge; this is encyclopedic in scope, a book for reference and pickup reading entertainment, for the enjoyment of homely, interesting, indigenous background material.
