Ruggles of Red Gap meets Dennis the Menace in this slick, small-town situation comedy. Ten-year-old Harvey Small wins the month-long services of a gentleman's gentleman, to their mutual embarrassment. Hawkins proves to be a stout fellow, but even with his aid a PTA presentation of Romeo and Juliet turns into farce, and a sidewalk sale of ""ghoul-ade"" results in bankruptcy. Ali's well finally, when they track down the ghost of Mrs. Mosley, who turns up alive and willing to hire Hawkins to help run her ""haunted house"" as a local museum. Some funny moments and a gently mocking narrative--""he made arrangements with his face to look bored and self-sacrificing""--give this a slight appeal.
