Only a young boy named Benjamin Buckley knew it was a balloon. He had been a flight anatic during the course of his short life, and had tried various methods of soaring above the ground. When Peaceful elected to have its own balloon and finished constructing it, Benjamin and his cat stowed away. An air current pulled the balloon skyward, and the boy found himself the ship's captain instead of its passenger. A trans- Atlantic raft-woman, a tweedily clad, tree-climbing bird watcher and a fireworks controller are numbered among the boy's bizarre acquaintances. Here is a humorous, colorful dream fulfilled -- a dream of endless travel.
