by Beman Lord ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 1, 1970
The Day the Spaceship Landed Mike Davis, who met the scouting party, got through to the Pentagon; not so his replacement Charlie Dennis--a new administration has ousted his contact, congressmen give him short shrift, the mayor's already swamped with nutty suggestions. Because Y2, political boss of the expedition, has gotten restless and waved his magnetic rod, stopping clocks (during Charlie's math class) and ringing bells (at 4:00 A.M. on Sunday morning). Bothering Charlie too is the money he's spent on postage and telegrams, but before the spacemen decamp on urgent business they win the school contest for rock groups--the Mysterious Four are way, way out-and Charlie pockets the cash prize. Some laughs on us but no interplanetary progress.
