THE HAGGADAH FOR PASSOVER

The first eleven illustrations that Ben Shahn did for the Passover Haggadah, are among the best known of his works. They were completed in 1933 and have long been displayed at the Jewish Museum in New York. In this book the complete set of fourteen plates have been included as well as ten drawings for ""An Only Kid."" The paintings have been done mainly in watercolor and, like medieval illuminations, surround the Hebrew text. This edition includes both the traditional of the Haggadah and an English translation by Ecil Roth. The problems of reproduction prevented this book from an earlier appearance. The plates have been faithfully rendered here in an impressive work by a leading American modern artist.
